About Me

Personally...

I try to live my life curiously - finding answers to the questions that intrigue me and balancing wonder with gratitude. I live in Decatur, Georgia with my hubby, our two little boys, and our pup; and enjoy reading, cooking, traveling, live music and writing. Have questions? Don't hesitate to ask!

In Therapeutic Terms...

I have a background in Marriage and Family Therapy, so I often invite clients to consider systemic influences in their lives. I believe that we are greater than the sum of our parts and that there are many contextual components that contribute to who we are and how we act, think, and feel. I specialize in working with clients who are dealing with relational issues (family, romantic, social, professional) including the LGBTQ community, and also have a clinical background in depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma and self-harm issues. I am a certified Prepare/Enrich premarital and couples counselor and enjoy working with co-parents (after/during divorce or separation) to help navigate boundaries so that families might continue to thrive in a healthy, functional, meaningful way. I have also been intensively trained in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and provide individual DBT therapy as well as adult DBT groups.

My theoretical foundation is in Attachment, Experiential, Family Systems and DBT theories, though I work to tailor sessions to clients' specific needs. I believe that traditional "talk therapy" is very important, but that action outside of the therapeutic setting is also required for true change to take place. Please feel free to ask questions!

I am a member of and abide by the ethics/standards of care of these groups:
The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT)
The Georgia Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (GAMFT)
The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH)
